Programs

South Eastman English and Literacy Services offers many different programs to meet the needs of our students. Programs are offered in many locations in and around Steinbach.

Classes are free for Canadian citizens and landed immigrants. Most programs have free on-site babysitting.

How to Join a Class

Learners are referred to classes based on their learning goals and their skill levels. We use the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) to measure your skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The assessment will allow you to be referred to an appropriate language training program in Manitoba. Learners in our English classes will be assessed by their teacher and provided with a CLB report when they finish the class.

A CLB assessment takes about 2 hours. Phone 326-4225 to make an appointment. Bring one of the following identifaction documents: landing papers, permanent residence card, provincial nominee program letter of acceptance, or refugee claimant paper.
