Her story explains the struggles she faced learning a new language after moving to Canada. Grocery shopping, reading the mail and helping her children with homework were all difficult.
After enrolling in literacy classes at South East English and Literacy Services her English improved and she became more confident.
Her story received the Learner Scholarship Recipient Award at Literacy Partners of Manitoba's annual general meeting in Winnipeg.
